Job description

WHO WE ARE?

Being the daughter company of Swisscom - leading telecommunications company and one of the most sustainable and innovative companies in Switzerland - we share the same values, vision and goals.

As a trustworthy and efficient Swisscom IT service partner, we create valuable customer experiences. We work in a strong collaboration with our Partners in Switzerland and attract and retain high performers.

We're expanding our footprint in Riga and actively seeking 50+ DevOps Engineers to join our growing teams within this year.

We invite driven professionals to join us, grow with us, and help shape the future.

The Product & Team

We are an interdisciplinary, international team developing and operating the standard application and infrastructure monitoring stack used by Swisscom’s decentralised DevOps teams. We deliver our capabilities as SaaS products – self-developed services, integrated cloud services, and integrated third-party SaaS products.

Our observability stack includes metrics (Cortex/Grafana) and distributed tracing (Tempo). Beyond building the platform, we consult and support the DevOps teams in the value streams so they can apply monitoring best practices, accelerate their value creation, and meet the quality targets for their products.

You will strengthen our growing Riga presence, working closely with the team in Switzerland. We work in an agile setup, collaborate across disciplines through the whole lifecycle, respond flexibly to new requirements, and stay calm and solution-focused during operational challenges.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer you will:

  • Work across the entire stack – product and technology – taking end-to-end ownership of services throughout the product lifecycle

  • Further develop our monitoring SaaS stack (Cortex/Grafana for metrics, Tempo for distributed tracing, Loki/Alloy for logs) and help set its technical direction

  • Build and run fleet management at scale – Alloy agent configuration, in-fleet config validation on GitLab push events, credential delivery, and agent handshakes

  • Help build and operate our alerting platform (Jira Service Management) – including auth, Twilio integration, and event streaming (Kafka/NATS)

  • Drive full-stack feature work – APIs and UI as well as backend services – and raise the bar on design, quality, and reliability

  • Deliver engineering-heavy operations at scale – tenant migrations, Cortex upgrades, and cluster upgrades (Gateway API, network policies, MetalLB)

  • Build CI/CD pipelines and automation (GitLab-CI, ArgoCD, AWS CDK) and help implement the monitoring strategy for workloads on-prem and in the AWS Cloud

  • Support the team in operational daily work and take part in the on-call rotation

  • Evaluate and apply suitable AI use cases – e.g. agentic AI/MCP tooling, anomaly detection, automated log analysis – while ensuring secure data handling, traceability, and human oversight

  • Take technical lead on initiatives – set direction, coordinate work across the team, and drive it to completion

  • Mentor team members, share your knowledge with users, and help grow the engineering strength of the Riga group

  • Contribute to technical decisions, architecture, and cross-team alignment with Switzerland

Who you are & how we work

You work independently on complex features and initiatives, and you are equally willing to support the team in end-of-day and operational work. You are self-driven about developing further on the job – and you help others around you develop too.

You can balance high demands and stay comfortable when not everything can be done at once – you have the courage to live with ‘the gap’ and prioritize well. You bring a high sense for quality and the judgement to tell where strictly following processes and standards is a must, and where creativity and exploration are possible and welcome.

What we offer:

  • Salary from 4900 to 6500 EUR monthly gross

  • 80 EUR monthly cell phone and internet allowance

  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid working model, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office

  • Ergonomic home office allowance in value of 500 EUR

  • Possibility to work abroad for 4 weeks each year

  • Health Insurance – includes gym or pool/aquatic fitness membership, issued after 1 month, and covers consultations with a psychologist or psychotherapist

  • Optics (200 EUR every 2 years)

  • 24 working days of annual paid holiday per year

  • 5 dedicated paid learning day’s annually

  • Gym membership or swimming pool/water aerobics membership

  • Day off on your birthday or names day

  • 1 day off for social activities (voluntary project, adopting an animal)

  • Collaborative, friendly and driven work environment

  • Work on innovations, cutting edge technologies and in autonomous high performance teams

  • Parking options

  • Continuous development environment that fosters your growth (conferences, cross-department experience sharing, learning platforms etc.)

  • Annual salary review

Job requirements

Must have:

  • Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Several years of professional experience as a software or platform engineer

  • Proven software development skills in Go

  • Experience working on Linux platforms and in cloud environments

  • Experience with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes / CaaS / PaaS)

  • Ability to build CI/CD pipelines and automation (e.g. GitLab-CI, ArgoCD)

  • Scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in complex VM, cloud, and hybrid environments

  • A track record of working with a high degree of independence and owning significant pieces of a product or platform

  • Experience mentoring or coaching engineers, and a willingness to continue doing so

  • Agile mindset and experience with Scrum, Kanban, or a related framework

  • Very good English, spoken and written (our users and documentation are in English)

  • Strong sense of ownership and a desire to keep learning

  • Open-minded, curious, and communicative personality

Nice to have:

  • Interest and/or experience in IT architecture, and willingness to take on the Security Champion role in the team

  • IT security experience (threat modelling, security concepts, data classification)

  • Experience with AWS cloud services

  • Experience with monitoring, distributed tracing, or log analytics (Prometheus/Cortex, Grafana, Tempo, Loki, Splunk, Elastic)

  • Experience with event streaming / messaging (Kafka, NATS)

  • IAM integration knowledge (SAML, LDAP, Active Directory)

  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or equivalent

  • Experience with AI-assisted development or operations tools (coding assistants, anomaly detection, automated log analysis)

  • German language skills (not required)

What makes this a senior role

Compared to our mid-level Full Stack Engineer profile, the senior role is defined by a larger scope of independence, proven Go expertise, previous tech lead or technical leadership experience, and the ability to shape technical decisions and architecture. We expect you to take technical lead on initiatives, mentor colleagues, raise quality standards, and potentially take on the Security Champion role.
